Printed Splashbacks & Wall Panels Guide - ISPS Innovations

The Selector GUIDE TO CHOOSING IMAGES FOR YOUR CUSTOM PRINTED SPLASHBACKS & WALL PANELS BY ISPS Innovations.

Our guide provides you a seamless procedure to choosing the right image & colour for your printed decorative Toughened Glass, Bonethane Polymer and  IPA Acrylic splashback and wall panel.

Some times solid and metallic colours are not enough and an extra creation of inspiration is required so if you are after splashback or feature wall that offers something outside the square, ISPS Innovations have you covered.

ISPS Innovations polymer printed acrylic sheets allows your creative character to showcase a design in distinction to uniform your kitchen, bathroom & laundry suited to both businesses or residential home settings.

Deliberation is essential when finding an image that will ensure a striking result.

Being the selector of your high definition image or colour is the first step to the final result.

However, there are some really important points to consider when choosing images, colour and sizing & this guide will make it seamless.

  • Before choosing your image it is important to keep with the colour and theme of your room. Your inspiration can be drawn from the colours surrounding the layout of your room, this is the key to choosing the right image & colour for you Acrylic polymer splashback or wall panel. It is also important that you connect with the image and the colour.

Dimensions & submitting your sizes.

Be clear about your dimensions. SCENARIO: you have a 1900mm x 2000mm meter section and it wraps around your wall,  we need to know.

Example a shower panel or L shape kitchen, you advise the section is 1900 x 2000 mm we will assume it is in 1 piece unless specified.

If you advise it is 2 panels of 950 x 2000 in a shower cubicle  or L shape kitchen then we will need to make provisions for the print to follow-on and wrap around at the right angle.

Print & Wrap Around

  • There is a process to set up measure & install the printed splashbacks when wrapped or a return is presented.
  • Further the image be it flowing left or right must follow into the next stage of the printed panel, creating a seamless continuation.
  • One panel is slotted in first, lets say in this instance the right panel, then the left follows.
  • The left panel will need to be 6mm shorter as the left panels final resting place will reside 1 to 2 mm away from the intercepting right panel.
  • If you wish for the left panel to be slotted first then 6mm will need to come of the right panel. Either way we work with you.
  • Please be clear and descriptive with your measurements. Our team will work with you to get the best outcome.
  • Before we start any process we will ask you for images and the layout of your bathroom, kitchen, laundry or interior space.

Where do I start with my printed splashback?

You have decided for your shower splashback, kitchen splashback, bathroom feature wall or outdoor feature wall that a motif printed creation will attract the stimulus that brings a uniqueness to your home or business.

So ask yourself is the theme you desire a beach, flower, water fall, fields of vibrant inspiration, something in abstract perhaps black and white with a hint of red, or vibrant images & patterns out side the spectrum used as a significant feature in your home or business.

There are reputable image libraries to assist shutter stock, istock photos to name some simply enter your style or theme into the search menu and explore the many wonders of royalty free high res images. Of course there is a small fee to pay for the use of the image but the good news is it won't break the bank.

Succeeding the colour palette of the room when choosing a splashback design is important sometimes even following through with a solid colour alternative may make your room layout appear bigger & complete.

Example: having a water fall image surrounding your shower base and following through with light or bold solid colour will open up the room and showcase the image.

Back to image choice

When choosing your image the size of your room is a very important factor, having a printed splashback should be the main feature whether it is a substantial impact or more refined and subtle feel.

Unsure how you want your room to look but have a concept?

It is important that you communicate your inspiration but also take on board any advice provided regarding resolution, layout, impact or other actions that are considered when laying out the graphic image & colour process.

ISPS are here to help and it is important not to loose sight of the over all finish & inspiration.

High Resolution Images

Sourcing a high resolution image for your printed splashbacks as mentioned earlier is made easy and is cost effective with a number of royalty free online sites.

Sourcing the right high resolution image is the best way to ensure a clean and sharp printed splashback or feature wall panel.

ISPS Innovations print to CMYK process on our polymer printed splashbacks, providing you a big range of colour spectrums more about this to follow.....

On Toughened glass there is more of a limited colour spectrum due to processing printed toughen glass, call our office for more information.

Note: when choosing an image colour on screen: Images that appear on a screens are displayed in RGB, which displays a wider colour gamut.

When printing to sheeting the print process is to CMYK colour base & a white barrier flooding to enhance the colour spectrum, this produces a lower colour gamut yet still vibrant and is a little less with bright reds on toughen glass, but the red impact on toughen glass still packs a punch.

Rest assured while there will always be some form of variation between the online image and printed image the printed result will be nothing less than extraordinary.

In short

  • CMYK colours is a combination of CYAN, MAGENTA, YELLOW , and BLACK.
  • Computer screens display colours use RGB colour values.
  • Our Print process presents colours using CMYK colour values.
  • Our Printing process on glass uses the highest quality UV stable ceramic inks and photographic or abstract sharp image resolution. Available as single toughen glass, a custom laminate, IGU (insulated glass units).
  • ISPS printed toughen glass is suitable for a broad range of internal and external applications in both residential and commercial settings. From Splashbacks to shower screens through to building facades and curtain walls.
  • ISPS printed glass is a eco friendly, sustainable, and recyclable printed glass and polymer.
  • ISPS printed glass must be toughen in order for the ink to fuse into the glass, which when toughened is a grade A safety glass.

For more information about resolution & print process please call our office 08 8381 8880.

When choosing your image on line.

It is important not to alter the image, lighten or crop as this will loose image definition. ISPS will require an image no less than 300 DPI and ensure that the image length by height is greater than your feature wall over all size.

TIPS to choosing the right image:

Choose a Vertical Image for Portrait and Horizontal for Landscape ensuring graphical measurements sit justified to your sheet size and is laid out correctly.

Have a fair expectation of the visual appearance, what is on a screen and is vibrant will not have the same light source to enhance the RGB colour spectrum.

Our polymer splashbacks require a 60mm clearance from induction or electric cook-top & is not suitable for a gas burners, glass is another option for gas burners, ISPS Innovations have created the first glass resolution upstand, call our office for further information.

Image on screen clarity & resolution mistakes

Low resolution images at 100 to 150 DPI that are 1000 x 1000 mm will look just fine on a screen & may look great for print process up to A3 size but consider the size of a wall, when enlarging a low res file of 150 DPI to 3 metre x 2 metre wall, this will pixelate and become distorted.

Images from google, bing, yahoo will not be suitable or accepted for your printed splashbacks as the resolution to these images are not appropriate for print process or large scale printing. Also consider copyright of images will need to be addressed from a proper licenced establishment or your own camera that is designed to take high resolution images.

Some licensed services we use that are reputable.

If you are not comfortable buying on line we can address for you. If you require further establishments for image sourcing please feel free to contact our office.

You can also purchase images from other professionals that specialise in landscape or portrait photography this imagery will harvest a sharp high resolution copy suitable for our print CMYK process.

What to look for when choosing your online image.

When acquiring your image form an on line library it is important to choose the highest resolution and dimension file size accessible. We will not accept files less than 300 DPI but also consider file size including length by height of image. A low res image will provide a pixelated out come.

Example
You have an image at 300 DPI and the image measures 1000 mm by 1000 mm. You need to fit file type across a 2000 mm x 1000mm panel.
NOTE OUTCOME:  image will be a blurry, pixelated and stretched.

If you have an image of 300 DPI and the image measure 3000mm x 2000mm to fit dimensions of 2500 x 1500 mm splashback this will work with minimal cropping and superior resolution proving the image runs is same orientation as the splashback scale.

To govern image resolution by file size, file details should be checked. Pixel dimension narrates the length and width of an image (taking DPI value into account). The more pixels the greater the image size and DPI above 300. This can be determined by our office if you are unsure.

ISPS Innovations will check the image DPI VS your layout Length by Height and advise accordingly before buying the image.

Exclusive image or pattern

After a unique design? Our graphic designer can assist with the image and layout to create a visual master image for print CMYK process. Additional charges apply for this process.

Image positioning and orientation

The image direction is important, so when selecting an image please take consideration the image length by height VS the splashback or wall panel length by height. This is to safe guard any loss of the image impression. It is imperative to choose an image with a similar dimension proportion.

Images that are used with the wrong format orientation run the risk of loosing image depth, resolution or scenery.  The reduction of resolution will be due to the image being cut and stretched to fit against an inappropriate layout.
